Worship Now with Tasha Layton Devotional

Have you ever had a meltdown in your car? Maybe stress, grief, or fear instigated it. Something about the solitude of being in your car makes the perfect, “I’m going to break down in tears now” spot. I’ve had several of those and heartbreak, loss and disappointment were my motivators. Even a bad day at work or a traffic ticket could be the last straws that cause suppressed emotions to pour out. It’s not easy to reckon with feelings you’ve tried so hard to push down, but I’ve found that those moments are great opportunities for surrender.

Not my plans. Not my will, but yours be done, Lord.

It’s when I’ve opened up my hands in surrender and given up trying to hold every piece of life in place that life has blossomed in a special way. When I worry, fear, battle disappointment… it’s usually due to not completely trusting God to take care of things... or me.

What could it look like if you trusted God with the situation you’re worried about today? My prayer is that you truly believe He will “show up” for you… that He is caring for you in every detail even when you may not be able to see or feel it.

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.  (Jer 17:7–8)
