God’s power and presence in our lives resides in the beauty around us. His fingerprints are all over creation, and every night He’s writing a love letter to you in the stars.
“The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.” - Psalm 19:1 (NLT)
If you’ve ever wondered whether God communicates with us, spend a few minutes trying to count the stars. There are about 5,000 stars visible to the naked eye; but because the Earth itself gets in the way, you can only see about half of those from where you stand. Our Milky Way galaxy contains 400 billion stars. Astronomers estimate there are around 170 billion galaxies in the observable universe. The number grows to septillion in the known universe. Why are these numbers important? Because they begin to tell the story of how God speaks to us through every detail of the world around us. He has a lot to tell us, but here are three key messages He wants to communicate to you through creation.
The first message God communicates is He is big. Infinitely big and powerful. If we can’t even accurately measure the vastness of creation, what chance do we have of comprehending the size of an all-present, all-powerful Creator? Let that thought take your breath away.
On the subject of breath, the sky holds another wonder we can’t even see. Oxygen. This is a gas manufactured on Earth and nowhere else. Through a process we know as photosynthesis, using sunlight and plants, oxygen is miraculously produced. The perfect blend of so many natural ingredients must come together with precision to make life possible on Earth. If one of these factors is off by just one degree, life ceases to exist. It’s a complex and perfectly balanced system.
The second message God communicates is He is supremely intelligent and wise. Proverbs 3:19 says “By wisdom the Lord founded the earth; by understanding he created the heavens.” God knows everything. It all originates from Him. Even Einstein’s great knowledge of science is no match for the living God.
The third message God communicates to us through creation is, “I see you; I love you; I care for you; and I will provide for you.”
The Bible says God cares about the flowers of the field and the birds of the air. Don’t you think if the tiniest speck of creation is important to Him, our hearts are just as significant?

- Go outside tonight and spend some time counting stars. Thank God for how big He is.
- Spend time reading God’s Word this week. Thank God for how wise He is.
- Spend time in prayer. Thank God for all the ways He sees you, loves you and provides for you.
