8 Prayers for Worshipping God

Worship is when your heart gravitates toward the object of your desire. Its meaning derives from an old English word that means worth-ship. When we worship, we say that the thing we are worshiping is worthy of our attention and honor. Everyone worships something or someone. If you want to know what you worship, look at where you spend most of your time and money. God created us for worship. More specifically, to worship him. Our hearts are never more truly home than when we tell God how much he is worth to us. Anything less is a cheap counterfeit that can’t ultimately satisfy. To help you live out your purpose, we have provided scripture empowered prayers to help you turn your heart and voice to God in worship.

Heavenly Father, with everything that’s going on in the world right now, sometimes I forget all the good things you’ve done and promise to do for me. Today, when the problems in this world and the stress in my life overwhelm me, remind me of all the blessings you’ve given me. Please fill me with your peace that, no matter what happens, with your help, I’m going to be okay. May I choose to praise you instead of panic.

Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

Prayer #2: Lord, it is always good to be near you. You are water and life and shelter for my soul. Help me to make time to connect with you each day. May you fill me with your goodness and love. Teach me to share how wonderful you are with the people in my world today.

God, you are great, awesome, holy, and just. I’m so thankful that you still want to have a relationship with me no matter what I’ve done in the past. Show me how I can use my time, talent, and the resources you’ve given me to honor you in my life today. Lord, you are holy, which means you are separate, and no one even comes close to how amazing you are. Teach me how to be set apart in everything I do, just as you, God, who chose me, is holy. Thank you for choosing me. Help me choose you over the temptations in my life and be set apart for you today.

God, you are my God. Today, I come now in search of you. My soul is thirsty for you. Please quench my spiritual thirst. May I not accept the substitutes that this world has to offer. They’re nothing compared to you. Just like my body can’t go long without water, I can’t go long without you. Please teach me how to abide in you today.

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

Lord, today I want to praise you for the glorious grace you have poured out on me because of what Jesus Christ did for me on the cross. I know I could never earn the incredible gift of your son’s life. Thank you for giving your son so I could have life. Help me today not to take your grace for granted and share the same grace to others you have provided to me.

So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.

Father, there is no end to how awesome you are. To think that you not only love me but that you – the maker of time and space – want to have a relationship with me completely blows my mind. You’ve given me many blessings, but no present comes close to the gift of your presence. So help me celebrate who you are and what you’ve done for me, and enjoy time with you today.

May the glory of the LORD continue forever! The LORD takes pleasure in all he has made!
