The World Feels Crazy… You Don’t Have To

Are you feeling overwhelmed by what’s going on right now? So many unexpected or unwanted occurrences can leave us feeling like we’re out in a storm at sea. We feel tossed, turned around, confused, and maybe even sick. One of the tricks to combat sea sickness is to focus on a point on the horizon, to keep your eyes on something steady that isn’t rocking like we are. As Christians, we know we ought to keep our eyes on Christ. In these difficult days, He is our Rock that cannot be moved.

Best steps for dealing with trouble:

1. Pause and pray, do not react hastily. Read Psalm 91.

2. Assess the situation, and wait for more details.

3. Don’t get pulled in by social media panic.

4. Connect with other believers for prayer.

5. Take care of your family first.

6. Connect with church leaders for a unified response.

7. Volunteer where you can, and love your neighbor in Jesus’ name.

8. Continue praying.

Below are some scriptures to help you know what God says about our need to feel safe and protected. If you want prayer or to talk about your current situation, feel free to call the pastoral care team at 800-525-5683.

Additional Scriptures

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” – Matthew 6:34 NLT

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. – Romans 8:28 NLT

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. – Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. – 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NLT

The Lord has made everything for His own purposes, even the wicked for a day of disaster. 9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. – Proverbs 16:4,9 NLT
