Kindra Ponzio talks with David Burchett, Chapter Pres, SHP Central Valley. Burchette tells of the story of how the founder built a bed with his kids as a project, asked the community who needed a bed and was astounded at how big the need was. He started a nonprofit and now has over 300 chapters across the US. Burchette talks about what it is like to deliver bunk beds or a twin in his chapter, to kids that have no bed of their own, and the excitement they show. The beds are hand built by teams of volunteers, complete with new mattresses and bedding, delivered and set up at no cost to the families. Burchette says they have partnerships with some of the retailers and businesses to make this happen. He also talks about having company team building projects and drives with businesses , organization, churches, service clubs, etc. Their tag line is "No kid sleeps on the floor in my town".
