Peter Kayes speaks with Fern Hurley of CAPTAIN Community Human Services on a variety of programming and resources they offer our neighbors in need throughout the capital region. Hurley discusses food insecurity and walks us through CAPTAIN’s food pantry and summer feeding program. She outlines how their runaway homeless youth initiative got its’ start years ago and what it looks like today. Hurley focuses on the crucial goal of self-sufficiency. She shares one of many full circle stories of people coming to CAPTAIN for a hand up and are now giving back to CAPTAIN as well as to their community.
