Phil Wickham drops a confident declaration with “The King Is In The Room.” The fresh selection debuted during an Air1 Worship First event, giving Air1 listeners first dibs on the full track after Wickham teased it for weeks across his social platforms.

The expectant anthem reminds us nothing is impossible when the presence of Jesus is in the room. We can always anticipate healing, freedom and peace when our King is present. “We’re gonna see lives changed, souls saved, broken hearts made new,” Wickham predicts in the pre-chorus before launching into an explosive refrain, chanting, “The King is in the room. Lord, we enthrone You upon our praise. The King is in the room. There’s freedom and life anywhere You reign. Jesus, we bow only to You. We’re laying down all of our crowns. The King is in the room.”
“‘The King Is In The Room’ was written to set the table for the Church as we gather in worship — not just because it carries joy and energy, but because of the truth it declares,” Wickham shares. “This song awakens our hearts to the reality that we are not just a group of people singing in an empty room, but the King — Jesus, the Holy Spirit — is present with us, ready to set people free as we focus on Him.”

Wickham penned his latest single with Ethan Hulse, Josh Farro, Phil Danyew, Tommy Iceland and Taylor Johnson. He says he hopes it’s a song worship leaders can start their sets with, setting the tone for the rest of the service with an atmosphere of eagerness and praise.

The bright, joyful original serves as the award-winning artist’s first release of 2025 and the first of many more new songs to come from Wickham this year.
The SoCal native has already been sharing “The King Is In The Room” with audiences on this spring’s “Singalong Tour.” With the majority of dates sold out, the outing runs through April with Cody Carnes and Kristian Stanfill joining Wickham for the duration of the trek.
