“Good Plans” immediately became a fan favorite when Red Rocks Worship released their new album, “Ascend,” back in July. Now, fans can officially hear the song on Air1.
Based on the title alone, it’s easy to assume the affirming declaration was inspired by the familiar verse in Jeremiah 29:11: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’” While this verse is still applicable, the lyrics penned for “Good Plans” are based on another well-known passage of Scripture — Psalm 23:

“It became the focal point of every word that we wrote for that song,” says the group’s Kory Miller of the Psalm that formed the lyrical foundation for the track. “I’m really excited for this song. It feels like a major personal revelation that turned into a corporate revelation for our church.”
The striking imagery of Psalm 23 paints a beautiful picture of the Lord’s gracious care and enduring comfort. Whether we find ourselves in a barren place or a fruitful season, the message of “Good Plans” reminds us our Heavenly Father will never leave or forsake us; and His plans for us are always good. The congregational-friendly single starts out soft and tender but gradually builds into a crescendo of praise that confidently declares: “I know my Father has good plans, good plans, good plans.”
