"Move Your Heart" by Maverick City Music

Maverick City Music (Feat. Dante Bowe and Elyssa Smith) Sets Their Sights on the Treasure of God’s Adoration in “Move Your Heart”

"Jesus, Jesus, My offering
All my Ambitions
My Hopes, My Dreams"

Seeking the eternal treasure of pleasing God serves as the guiding force of Maverick City Music’s song “Move Your Heart”. In a stirring performance done in collaboration with UPPERROOM, Dante Bowe and Elyssa Smith passionately ask God what it is that moves Him. This vulnerable ballad serves as a stunning display of ardent surrender in genuine pursuit of God’s heart.

FUN FACT: "Move Your Heart" was written by Elyssa Smith, Dante Bowe, Oscar Gamboa, Joel Figueroa

“Is it a fragrance? Then I'll pour my oil out. Is it a life laid down? Then here I give my vows. Is it a song I sing? Then here's every melody.”

As Maverick City Music asks God what it is that moves Him, they are reverently set on doing whatever it is He answers them with. However, the song itself shifts in a beautiful movement as the lyrics change from asking God what He desires to sharing God’s own thoughts of what He wants. God’s answer reassures the listener that He is moved not by performance or talent, but simply by who the listener is and the very fact that they are seeking Him. The lyrics go on to affirm that as God looks at His children seeking Him, He is overcome with love. His affections are not won by action, but by simply beholding His seeking children. The song closes with a passionate call to people in a variety of life situations imploring them that they are adored by God as they are.

“Move Your Heart” is the title track to the second collaboration between Maverick City Music and UPPERROOM. The EP was released in January 2021.

About the Artist

Maverick City Music started with a dream to make space for people that would otherwise live in their own separate worlds and to break the unspoken rules that exist in the CCM and Gospel World. But moreover, they seek to be a mega phone for a community of creatives that have been pushed to the margins of the industry of Church Music. What brings us together, and that sound that is vivaciously smacking you in the face the first time you hit play on on a Maverick track. Isn’t the sound of a community that centered around their deprivation, it’s the audacious sound of true belonging: The beautiful harmony of long lost family.
