Christian music riser Josiah Queen teams up with in-demand collaborator Brandon Lake on “Can’t Steal My Joy.” The epic singalong rides on heartfelt lyrics undergirded by the Americana-flavored instrumentation that has swiftly made Queen a buzzworthy act. Lake is also no stranger to integrating hints of country music into his own catalog (See “Coat of Many Colors” closer “Country Psalm” for further proof.), but the pair goes all in on the acoustic-grounded “Can’t Steal My Joy.”

“This song came from the idea that our joy isn’t dependent on the situations we face in our lives,” Queen shares. “It says in the Bible, ‘The joy of the Lord is our strength.’ A lot of times we read that verse and don’t think about the power we have in joy. All of my life, the enemy has tried to rob me of my joy, but he can’t have something he never gave me.”

The driving anthem puts a twist on traditional Vacation Bible School standard “I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy.” In fact, Lake appropriately describes the surefire future hit as “a total joy bomb,” and there’s no better description. From top to bottom, the song is a massive celebration of the kind of joy that can be experienced regardless of our circumstances — the kind of joy available only in Jesus.

Queen and Lake penned the fresh jam with songwriting aces Hank Bentley and Jacob Sooter. “Can’t Steal My Joy” marks the first release of 2025 for Queen, who launches his next headlining trek via the “My Promised Land Tour” this spring with special guest Strings & Heart. The Florida native will join Lake and Phil Wickham on the third consecutive installment of the duo’s popular “Summer Worship Nights” tour later this year.

Meanwhile, Queen’s duet partner, Lake, recently dropped another version of his much-lauded single, “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” featuring country star Jelly Roll. The reworked iteration of the fast fan favorite joins the five-time GRAMMY® winner’s new collaborations with Elevation Worship and debut collective Sons of Sunday, a Christian music supergroup comprised of Lake, Steven Furtick, Chris Brown, Chandler Moore, Pat Barrett and Leeland Mooring.
