Chris Davenport may seem like a newcomer to the worship scene, but this Grammy-nominated songwriter and worship leader has been involved in the creation of some of your favorite worship songs for years. Davenport has worked with various iconic artists and worship collectives including songs like UNITED's in “Another In The Fire,” “Grace To Grace” and “Seasons”. Additionally, he has collaborated with artists like Phil Wickham on "Hymn Of Heaven," Brandon Lake on "Too Good To Not Believe" and Cody Carnes on "Be Glad." Now Chris is coming to us with a beautiful solo album that not only establishes him as a worship powerhouse, but more than anything establishes Jesus as the powerhouse over every circumstance in our lives.
This live studio recorded album is riddled with rich collaborations – a testament to Davenport’s time spent helping other artists craft their songs of worship. From the opening power ballad to the closing rhythmic anthem and every heart-rending song in between, the listener is reminded that God doesn’t stop being God when we are in the desert or fire or whether we are far or near to God.
Listen to Chris Davenport in “Thunder in the Desert”
Davenport launches his album with the ground-shaking “Thunder in the Desert”. This ballad brings the listener to times when God seems far. The ground seems dry and prayers of revival seem to be as pointless as asking for rain in the desert. But “Thunder in the Desert” paints the picture of God answering prayers that seem long lost through an outpouring of His Holy Spirit. Davenport resounds, “I hear shouts of joy returning for every tear that we’ve sown. All the dreams we thought we buried reap a heavenly fold. These are the days that we’ve been praying for when all is restored. The skies are heavy and this thirsty ground is ready for more.”

This dynamic trio softly yet powerfully declares the power that enables them to declare victory over every situation in their lives – the blood of Jesus. Over their families, future, sin they claim that the blood of Jesus is stronger than anything the enemy can do to deter their lives. Their hearts are free in the gift of Jesus as they find shelter in the protection His blood offers them. Bringing in the classic hymn “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus” to round out their anthemic bridge, this song is sure to give you encouragement and Truth to stand on. It’s easy to see why this is one of two singles to come from this album.
Listen to Chris Davenport in “Time”
Davenport’s title track, “Time”, ushers the listener into a reflective piano ballad that will reach anyone who has ever felt they had used up the last of God’s patience on them. While our earthly relationships may at times have an expiration date or conditions based on our performance, God’s love towards us does not. Even in times when we have been the ones to pull away from God, He is still there waiting to greet us with mercy and joy. In “Time”, Davenport sings “When rags of shame were all that I could see, You laid a robe of mercy over me. The Love I thought I lost was always mine. When I couldn’t see it, You gave me time.”
Listen to Chris Davenport in “The King”
Serving as the second single from the album is the gospel-exclaiming song “The King”. In this slowly building triumphant song, Davenport sings of the joy and final ending the cross brings us. In reflecting on the power of the gospel, Davenport leads us in singing “alleluia” to Jesus as it is His gift on the cross that brings us the victory Davenport so joyfully proclaims. The song closes with a nod to the future of the end of all time with the triumphant last stanza that sings “When I hear that trumpet what a glorious sound. We’ll see Jesus riding on the clouds. Join the great procession, joy that has no end. For our King is coming back again, oh the King is coming back again.”
