In the first verse alone, Lake manages to work in references to David, Paul, Silas, Moses and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego — the latter three of which comprise a memorable line live audiences are already shouting back to the singer word for word. Additionally, the second verse includes nods to Mary Magdalene, Daniel and Joshua. In each of these stories, Lake acknowledges how God manages to show up right on time, exhibiting His extraordinary power in every one of these scenarios. In response, Lake also sings of the numerous characteristics of God, and subsequently, the countless reasons we have to praise Him.
“This song really came out of a posture of just wanting to brag on God. He’s a mountain moving, body raising, breaker of chains. I also love the verses of this song because it mentions so many characters throughout the Bible that I look up to… I’m encouraged because, while they weren’t perfect, they demonstrated different expressions of worship, and they were people that I can imitate. [Like them], I want to be a radical worshiper,” Lake asserts. “I hope you love this song.”
