Air1 New Song Feature: "Freedom In This house" Jonathan Traylor

Jonathan Traylor lifts up a genuine “hallelujah” in full technicolor, thanking God for abundant life in Jesus, on “Freedom In This House.” The celebratory single beckons listeners to step into the light, leaving past darkness and sin behind.

“Freedom isn’t about the absence of challenges or suffering, but about having peace and purpose even in difficult circumstances,” Traylor says of the message behind the song. “It’s about being free to live in alignment with God’s will, free from the guilt and condemnation that might otherwise weigh you down.”

Traylor wrote the high-octane track with Hank Bentley and Jessie Early. Following the initial studio release, he dropped a Gospel version and a Spanish iteration of the original recording.

Since his 2020 major label debut, “The Unknown,” the Dallas, Texas, native has exhibited a unique versatility in both his vocal dynamics and his sonic range, adapting his soaring vocal to meet the need of the song, regardless of categorization. This has resulted in Traylor crafting everything from Gospel music — following in the footsteps of his heroes, genre trailblazers like Kirk Franklin and Tye Tribbett — to pop, worship, R&B, hip-hop and even rock.

Now living in Charlotte, N.C., the husband and father of two has previously collaborated with Jordan Feliz, Evan Craft and Ben Fuller, and he’s toured with award-winning acts like Casting Crowns and We Are Messengers.

Moreover, Traylor’s energetic live shows have become something of a calling card, given not just his powerful voice, but also his dynamic stage presence complete with spontaneous dance moves and choreographed routines. Fans can experience his spirited show for themselves this spring — and hear “Freedom In This House” live — when Traylor provides direct support on Jeremy Camp’s “These Days Tour,” with dates running through mid-May.
