Singer Songwriter and Grammy Award-Winner Lauren Daigle recently stopped by the Air1 Studios and sat down with CJ & Lauren for an exclusive interview, offering a glimpse into her personal life and her surprising daily vocal upkeep!
Starting off with the work that goes into singing, Lauren talked about her specialty breathing routine which involves breathing deeper (similar to opera singers) and even enlisting the help of breathing and vocal therapists to keep things loose and relaxed.
"My vocal therapist physically moves my trachea, she will literally touch my spine through the back of my trachea because all those muscles get so sore!"
But the work doesn't stop there, Lauren also mentioned that she warms up with her vocal coach every single day, even on days that she isn't recording or belting out hits to an arena audience.

When CJ asked about the emotion that Lauren puts into her songs, her response is one that most artists can probably relate to.
"The writing room is where all the emotion can fall out, in "Rescue" we used the demo take (which was supposed to be temporary) as the final vocal on the record. This is why I like writing with my producer because when we're writing he'll just give me an SM7 and I'll be singing into it while we write and sometimes that is how to get a vocal performance that just sounds so alive!"
The Songstress then talked about her Louisiana roots and the melting pot culture that she is proud to have come from!
"My Grandfather grew up only speaking French, there is a lot of culture there with so many different styles of music, New Orleans is the birthplace of Jazz, it's really profound how much musical influence was given to me by growing up in Louisiana - It's a whole world of its own"
