Studying music from an early age and composing her first song at the age of 12, Brooke Fraser was first discovered while performing at a Christian music festival in 2000. She would sign on with producer Matty J and relocate from New Zealand to Auckland when she landed a multi-album deal with Sony in 2002. Fraser’s first two studio albums, “What to Do with Daylight” and “Albertine” released in 2003 and 2006 respectively, earning gold status in Australia, and even landing in the top 100 on American music charts.

While her solo career was taking off, Fraser also joined a highly successful worship collective, writing and even singing lead vocals on hit songs like “None but Jesus” as a part of that collective. In 2008, Brooke would marry the love of her life, fellow songwriter Scott Ligertwood. Two years later, still producing music under her maiden name, Brooke Fraser would temporarily break away from singing lead vocals for the worship collective she partnered with and release her third solo album, “Flags,” along with one of her most popular songs, “Something in the Water”. This outing would earn her many accolades at the 2011 New Zealand Music Awards, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Female Artist, and more. Her fourth solo album, “Brutal Romantic,” released in 2014, and continued to receive praise.

In 2016, Brooke would rejoin the worship collective she had performed with years earlier to release some of the most renowned worship songs of all time, including “What a Beautiful Name” and “King of Kings”. While Brooke continues to sing as part of a group, she recently released her first album under her married name, Brooke Ligertwood in 2022. This album, “Seven,” displays her vocal talents as well as her refined songwriting, bringing art and theology together, and bringing more than one memorable track to the airwaves. Ligertwood’s career is an eventful one, and her legendary voice has graced the top of the charts many times. We suspect it will continue to do so.

Ligertwood describes the intention behind her latest album, highlighting the combination of artistic intent and theological imagery.

“Ideas are one of the most powerful things in the world. Theology is ideas about God—in other words, some of the most powerful ideas in the world. When this type of potency can be delivered through rhyme and melody, it’s practically combustible. It becomes something that God Himself might just ride in on.” - Brooke Ligertwood
