Chief Legal Officer

Put your love of ministry, leadership and the law into action! Educational Media Foundation (EMF) is an evangelical ministry. America's largest broadcaster of contemporary Christian music, its mission is to transform lives with music and prayer. EMF's two programming formats, K-LOVE and Air 1, play Christian music with positive commentary through 600 signals across 46 states. Its dedicated pastoral staff responds 24 hours a day 7 days a week to listener calls, providing immediate encouragement and prayer support and connecting listeners to local churches and social services within each served community. EMF has more than 300 employees working in 20+ states, headquartered in Rocklin, California, east of Sacramento.

EMF is founded on the concept of servant leadership. The Chief Legal Officer will join a small Executive Council working closely with the President/CEO dedicated to leading this dynamic ministry with faith, perseverance, passion and balance through prayer, collaboration and clear communication. We operate in a very complex legal environment and are always seeking efficient and effective ways of growing the ministry while staying in full compliance with a myriad of federal, state and local laws and regulations.   • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Membership in good standing with the California bar, or another state bar with the commitment to become a member of the California bar
  • Experience with state and federal procedures governing litigation and arbitration in California
  • Fifteen years of law practice focused on two or more of the following areas: general corporate law, complex business transactions, real estate, employment law, contracts, intellectual property, exempt organizations and communications law. Preference will be given to candidates who have represented nonprofit broadcasting organizations or have other demonstrated knowledge of the radio industry and of FCC regulations and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills

  • Record of active participation in community service and/or faith-based ministries

Field Engineer - Northern Texas Region

The Field Engineer is responsible for our North Texas Region and will be based in the North West TX area. The Field Engineer provides technical and engineering support to a variety of broadcast facilities, ensuring EMF programming is broadcast successfully and to the highest level of quality. The work performed takes place in a range of locations and work situations.

Qualification/Experience Requirements :

  • Minimum of 2+ years experience troubleshooting and repairing failures in broadcast electronic equipment, or similar relevant experience .
  • SBE Certification highly desirable
  • Good understanding of the components necessary in a broadcast air-chain
  • Proven ability to deal with multiple, simultaneous problems in a systematic and logical manner
  • Ability to read and understand basic electronic schematics, electrical drawings, and construction drawings, making appropriate modifications when necessary
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to carry out calculations in common broadcast-related formulas such as transmitter efficiency, transmitter power output, wavelengths, and antenna system gain
  • Understanding of satellite technology
  • Basic understanding of radio frequency emissions .
  • Ability to solder and desolder electronic components without causing damage to the components or PC board .
  • Knowledge of applicable, broadcast-related FCC rules and regulations .
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.
  • Ability to think logically from problem to solution.
  • Proficiency with standard broadcast test equipment, such as VOMs, oscilloscopes, and RF spectrum analyzers.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and other common software (Internet browsers, etc.)
  • Candidates currently residing in the North West Texas area are preferred.

Educational Requirements :

  • Bachelors Degree in electronics; or equivalent work experience in related field
  • FCC General License or Society of Broadcast Engineer (SBE) certification preferred.

Job Travel Requirements : Up to 75% is expected.

Part-Time Receptionist

Position Summary:

We are currently looking for an experienced Receptionist who is available for a Part-Time schedule.  This position will assist with answering incoming calls from members/listeners and provide excellent customer service, and perform activities geared toward strengthening the relationship between EMF and our listeners. Consistently represent the ministry in a positive, encouraging, and professional manner to our listeners over the phone and in person. Serve as the first point of contact in representing the ministry to callers and on-site visitors. Assist other departments with additional special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualification/Experience Requirements :

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Receptionist in a medium to high call volume environment.
  • Experience answering a multi-line phone system
  • Ability to multi-task in a highly technical computer environment
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills; strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Strong computer skills; advance knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the internet.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to represent ministry and leadership staff professionally and maintain confidentiality

Reception Assistant Supervisor

The Reception Assistant Supervisor serves as a backup for the supervisor /management team, providing technical/functional leadership and second line supervision for a team of full time, part time and on-call staff. This position co-coordinates the daily activities of a work group and set priorities to ensure task completion, does scheduling, training, performance management, etc.  Responsible for maintaining compliance with performance standards.  This includes assisting the Supervisor with employee performance reviews. 

Minimum Qualification/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years in a supervisory role with experience scheduling, training, performance management and review.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an administrative/support capacity (Prior experience as a Receptionist a plus.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a customer service environment
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of ministry and non-profit environment
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills; strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships
  • Strong computer skills; advance knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to create graphs; charting; complex analysis within multiple systems; data parsing; and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently; establishing and meeting performance/ministry goals
  • Ability to multi-task and keep multiple projects moving forward with accuracy and excellence
  • Exhibits versatility and flexibility. Regularly adapts to change while maintaining a positive attitude and high productivity
  • Demonstrated ability to represent ministry and leadership staff professionally and maintain confidentiality
  • Project management experience; ability to plan, organize, lead and direct projects

Work Hours/Schedule:

  • This is a full-time position, with a work schedule of Mon - Fri 2:30pm 11:00pm.
  • This position does require the ability to be flexible, as on-call, weekend and holiday hours may be required at times.

Receptionist - On Call

Position Summary :

The On Call Receptionist  is responsible for responding to incoming calls promptly and in a professional yet welcoming manner. Providing accurate information or route calls appropriately. This position also welcomes and directs visitors according to our procedures manual. Maintaining a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within & outside of EMF.  This is an on-site position based out of our headquarters in Rocklin, CA.

We are looking for positive, outgoing people with a heart for ministry to interact with our listeners, provide excellent customer service, and perform activities geared toward strengthening the relationship between EMF and our listeners.

Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Receptionist answering multi-line telephone systems and working in a medium to fast paced call environment.
  • Experience answering a multi-line phone system is a must.
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office and Internet experience background a must.
  • This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent ministry and leadership staff professionally and maintain confidentiality
  • Candidates currently residing in the Sacramento / Rocklin, CA area preferred.

Hours Of Work:

Resource "Task Force" Support Engineer

The Resource "Task Force" Support Engineer works with the Engineering Resource Support Supervisor (temporarily the VP of Engineering) and other members of the Engineering Team to improve the quality and reliability of EMFs signals. This job requires significant travel and working in the field at transmitter sites. The positions goal is to be an effective part of a team bringing sites up to current EMF engineering standards by addressing equipment issues, such as wiring, grounding, legal, etc. The team will work with the REM and local engineers to determine the most appropriate way of resolving the problems; including either supporting the Field Engineer so they can perform the on-site work or performing the on-site work personally.

Qualification/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a radio broadcast engineer or similar experience.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP preferred. Demonstrated understanding of remote control system usage in radio or television broadcasting. Significant experience with satellite earth-station installation and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate and partner with a variety of people regarding project assignments, technical troubleshooting, equipment and supply ordering, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of broadcast audio processing. Must be able to learn to hear the difference between acceptable and unacceptable processing. Must be able to learn project management skills, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Navigation).
  • Ability to use project management software to manage projects.
  • Experience with all aspects of broadcast engineering, including working with high power transmitters, with the goal of resolving all issues found to affect the reliable, legal operation of a signal.
  • Good written & verbal communication skills

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in electronics; or equivalent work experience in related field
  • FCC General License or Society of Broadcast Engineer (SBE) certification preferred

Job Travel Requirements: Up to 50% is expected.

Sr. Web Designer/Developer

The Senior Web Designer/Developer partners with Promotion Managers, Design Manager and Design Team, SEO Coordinator, IT and other internal staff to create and manage websites, K-LOVE and Air 1 web pages, emails and other online marketing content by designing and building user interface elements, graphics, XHTML/CSS, JavaScript/AJAX, Flash, and formatting content for optimum user experience and conversion.   This is a full-time, on-site position based at our headquarters in Rocklin, CA.

Qualification/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience designing, coding and maintaining dynamic websites.
  • Excellent presentation layer development skills Strong layout skills and web asset design (CTAs, Promo/Content units, Ads/Banners, etc)
  • Solid knowledge of the constraints of online design; research and explore best practices in interactive design.
  • Experience optimizing images for web user interface and creating XHTML/CSS that matches a Photoshop design layout and understanding how mockups translate to code.
  • A creative and resourceful problem-solving mindset, with a proven ability to create design work that is clear, clean, vibrant, and meets business requirements.
  • Strong skills using Adobe Creative Suite, including Interactive/Multimedia (Flash) knowledge.
  • Ability to build reusable HTML templates from scratch and ability to do so with plain text editors as well as complex editors like Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Strong ability to review, understand, and reuse existing code base
  • Knowledge and experience working with content management systems as well as the ability to code from scratch

  • Identify, leverage, and share additional tools and materials to assist your production work (Firefox extensions, code validators, debuggers, W3C web site, etc).

This is a regional position based at our KARJ station in Kuna, Idaho.
